Naismiths Rule
by G E Clarke

Preamble
-----------

While planning routes for expeditions and walking trips, I frequently became fed up using my brain to work out the times - guess I'm getting lazy in my old age!

So I wrote this little spreadsheet program for the Psion 5 which would ease my troubled brain.

Using it
---------
Dead easy really - just stick it in any folder and run it.

In E3, fill in the time you are leaving at (just below ETA)
In F3, fill in the speed you normally walk at (most walkers usually walk 3k/h over bog, 4k/h over dry ground and 5k/h over tracks and roads) I do not make any apologies for using metric - it's what I was brought up with and if you still prefer imperial - get a life. Or to use a less insulting manner, any one who really cares can send me an imperial version and we'll stick it up on the web site as well!

Then in A4, fill in the distance you will walk in kilometres.
In B4 fill in the height climbed in metres.
In C4, fill in the time you need for stops.

The spreadsheet should then work out the estimated time of arrival at your next point.

For Duke of Edinburgh Award hiking people in the UK, there are times totalled at the bottom.

Enjoy. Oh, this is freeware, but if you use it, let me know of any bugs etc. Or even still, just email me if you even use it.
